One-Time Password (OTP)

A One-Time Password (OTP) is a temporary, unique code valid for a single login session or transaction. OTPs are typically sent to a user’s mobile device or email and must be entered within a short timeframe to authenticate the user.

OTPs are used to enhance security by providing a further layer of authentication beyond traditional passwords. They are a common part of multi-factor authentication (MFA). Since OTPs are generated dynamically and only valid for a short period, they significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access due to compromised passwords.

Businesses and financial institutions use OTPs to protect sensitive information, secure online transactions, and comply with security regulations. This creates a higher level of protection against fraud and cyber threats.
