William Smith

General Counsel

William directly oversees Kount’s legal functions and, as a member of Kount’s senior leadership team, provides legal counsel to Kount’s senior management. He leads a legal team and coordinates legal advice on, among other things, commercial transactions, employment, litigation, M & A activity, intellectual property rights, data and privacy issues, governance, and regulatory matters.

Previously, he was with Holland & Hart LLP where he practiced in mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial transactions, private securities offerings, corporate restructuring, and all manner of other corporate and transactional matters. Prior to that, he was with Hawley Troxell Ennis & Hawley LLP where he focused on employment law, commercial litigation, and appellate law. He also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Roger S. Burdick, Chief Justice of the Idaho Supreme Court.

William received a J.D. with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law and a B.A. from Utah State University.
